Vanity of a Mumbai girl

I always prided myself on being a Puneri with a weakness for masala puris, but Mumbai changed me in a way that i never in my wildest dreams thought anyone could. The fast pace of life, the people, the heartbeat changed it all.

From an ardent fan of masala puris to a devastating let down of masala puris in Mumbai.  Now sitting in a Santa Clara library dreaming of a roadside Vada pav is the proof for any Mumbai non believer that the city does change you for the better. Dreaming of the people, the crowd, the non stop heavy rains and the independence of surviving it all in fashion.

When the nostalgia sets in, its hard to let go of the things that you most cherished and thought of a life together. The city turns you into a warrior with no resources from a privileged princess who had it all and lost it all. The warrior that you have become never lets you sleep until you have what you always wanted and pushing you towards restless dreams and giving strength to fight for those dreams. All the clichés of the city are true. It gives you love but also takes it away from you. It makes you hardcore for any survival crises comes your way. The city is like a feeling where the feelings of a long lost dream are still lingering and makes you miss the most of its essence when you thought such things only exist in books. The feeling of missing someone without ever meeting that person is kind of power the city has over you once you leave never to go back,  but exist only in dreams and looking for that essence in your new life.

You always look for the familiar smell of rain, the grass, how the sun feels during summer, never to find that unique sense of attachment that ties you to home.

The Superman that i know..

We all have our versions of Superman, and other characters in our life.

This is a story about the Superman that i know.

                                                                                    Sketch by Priya Kothadia

When you meet the superman in your life, you don't give a second glance, because you don't know that guy/girl  is going to be the pivot in shaping your life.
Like any recipe, there is a step by step process by which the superman becomes indispensable part of your day to day activities and of course the long term plans as well. You will not immediately realise the person is the superman of your life, but small incidences will make sure that you do realise it, and the right ingredients just makes the incidences the most memorable ones.

Things that Superman does other than  his/her daily task of saving people -:

1.The Superman will not only save your life multiple times, but also fly across approximately 300 kms, just to make sure that you are ok !!

2.The Superman will always have sarcasm ready on the tip of his tongue, so that you are annoyed to the core, and you never get bored.

3. The Superman will be the sunshine in  your otherwise rainy, snowy , wintry weathers.

4.The Superman will be the weirdest of people, because he would fight for you when someone is giving you a hard time.

5.The Superman have taken a bullet for you (metaphorically) with the most happiest smile on his face.

6.The Superman ,when in a bad mood might look on the verge of a psychotic breakdown, but the reality is he just needs a hug.

7. The most interesting part which i admire the most is his
patience,  enduring all the pain from the kryptonite and still standing strong.

8. The Superman, never ever goes back on his word, and always keeps his promises, well atleast most of the times.

9. The Superman, is your partner in all types of crime(types depending on the scale of evilness)

10.The Superman is Columbus, exploring places, just because you like to.

11. The Superman will not only help you find a path to reach the top of the mountain, but also help you find a path onto the next one.

No matter wherever you go, your Superman will be flying right above your head.:)

                                                       Canada _My personal heaven
Canadian Summer Evening

Its just comes naturally when you have to write a blog about the thing that you feel more deeply and densely about, or as people say "things which are more closer to your heart",  it sounds cliched but what can i say the heart wants what it wants.
When i look back at my "Canadian Living", and Living because i dont want to term it as experience and make it boring, Living because i was actually living all the moments for the time i was there, each and every miniscule, tiny moment changed the tectonic plates in my life, and made it like a Canadian summer evening, which is so magical that you are completely engulfed in the absolute beauty. Its from that one summer evening that i started believing in magic.
Magic in the small and the bigger things in life that it would offer me:

1. The people -
It has always inspired me to meet new people, learn about their work, what ticks them, about their passion and what makes them who they really are.I have always been intrigued and fascinated by peoples thoughts and their reactions. Meeting random strangers on the bus or in a retail shop and talking to them makes me feel welcomed in a country which is not so strange when it comes to welcoming new people in its local life.I had such an opportunity to work with Canadians and draw inspiration into my personal life.Working with them gave me an whole new perspective towards work and a complete new dimension has been added in my brain waves.Talent here is respected and seeked after .

2. The Work -
Working at Carleton University, with the ever encouraging facilitator, was the perfect push which made me open my mind without a world of constraints, i do believe constraints are important, but now i also know when the constraints play an important part and when to tackle them.
Working with the company made me concentrate on the process more instead of concentrating on the final conclusion. The process is so crucial, the end conclusion doesn't seem so difficult than, if you just approach the process as one does fishing.(with a lot of patience )

3. The Weekends -
My motto when you go to a different country is to experience things like a local, not just do the touristy stuff, but explore the nooks and crannies of the country, then only you will understand the country much better and in a different light. Never ever forget to go for camping to White Fish Lake, Ontario, or to a cottage far away from the city, these are the most local and absolute essential things that you can do while you are in Canada.Exploring and trying out different things makes you more braver and you realize you can do stuff which you thought you could never do it before.

     Never forget to just Explore!
